i'll state up front that i haven't had either.
environmental issues aside, compare the number of calories in an omeals to a mountain house. i think you'll be disappointed.
i've never researched the ready to eat sandwiches, becasue, quite frankly, they just don't look appetizing to me. my standard trail is lunch is PBJ (on a bagel when possible) and that's pretty darn easy to make in the field.
please give us an report if you end up trying either of these.2,000 miler -
I am fine with Mountain House for dinner most nights since there are around five varieties I like. Do get tired of just oatmeal or grits every morning for breakfast, or perhaps it is just not always enough for the trade-off of taking time to boil water and cool down before packing up.
Still always looking for new alternatives and will plan to try these out in the spring. The road to glory cannot be followed with much baggage.

On the rare occasion that we want to bring prepackaged hiking meals we usually order from Hawk Vittles.

For first breakfast I eat two poptarts or two of those Belvita biscuit things or a honeybun. Repeat in 30 minutes to an hour for second breakfast."Dazed and Confused"

I too stopped cooking breakfast on trails. Now it's Baby Bell cheese and summer sausage.
